SNC Acquisitions
SpaceDev, Inc.
December 2008: SNC completed the acquisition of SpaceDev, Inc. (SpaceDev.) SpaceDev had 170+ employees in its three locations: Poway, California; Louisville, Colorado; and Durham, North Carolina. SpaceDev added tremendous space heritage with products that had flown on over 300 spacecraft over 20 years and represented a dynamic expansion of SNC’s space technology capabilities, proven system integration, communications, networking and intelligence capabilities in the space sector.
After the SpaceDev acquitision, SNC formed a new Space Systems Business Area which also included SNC’s subsidiary, MicroSat Systems, Inc., and the other SNC space operations and capabilities. SNC’s strategy of having an in-house satellite and space expertise is based on its vision of providing innovative net-centric solutions by synergistically connecting numerous platforms and domains from the Earth’s surface all the way to orbit. MicroSat Systems, Inc.
January 2008: SNC acquired MicroSat Systems, Inc. (MSI) in Littleton, Colorado, making MSI a wholly owned subsidiary of SNC. MSI was a leader in the small satellite market and had developed innovative spacecraft that included better payload mass fraction, power, data processing, and pointing accuracy than other small satellites and showed the potential to be a disruptive technology to the large and very expensive satellites traditionally used for Department of Defense and NASA missions. Straight Flight, Inc.
February 2007: SNC acquisitioned Straight Flight, Inc. (SFI) and Straight Flight Conversions, Inc. (SFC). These Denver, Colorado based FAA/EASA Certified Repair Station operations conducted commercial aircraft modification, installation, and maintenance activities. This acquisition represented an exciting expansion of SNC’s proven aircraft modification, installation, and maintenance capabilities at one of the nation’s busiest airports. WaveBand Corporation
May 2005: SNC acquired WaveBand Corporation, a California-based company known for innovative electronic beam-steering antennas and imaging radar systems, to address aircraft autonomous landing, UAS detect, see and avoid, concealed object detection and surface surveillance radar sensor markets.
Aviation Resources Delaware, Inc.
June 2004: SNC acquired Aviation Resources Delaware, Inc. (ARDI), providing us with a significant Maryland based aircraft and systems integration capability.
Inter-4
October 2003: SNC acquisitioned Inter-4, a San Francisco-based military computer designer. Inter-4 specialized in development of ruggedized computers. Inter-4 is now part of SNC’s Command, Control, Communications, Computer and Networking (C4N) business area, which has evolved to providing ruggedized computers and networks to the Department of Defense.
Turtle Mountain Communications, Inc.
June 2003: SNC acquired Turtle Mountain Communications, Inc. (TMC). The acquisition enabled SNC to deliver customized communications solutions for the Department of Defense, other government agencies and commercial markets. This brought SNC a unique secure communications and real-time video capability. These light weight "fly-away" systems were very complementary to SNC’s core competency of providing agile and rapid systems integration to the special mission community.
Plano Microwave, Inc.
October 2001: SNC acquired Plano Microwave, Inc. (PMI), gaining unique Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) sensor capabilities. SNC effectively applies is existing capabilities to enhance PMI sensors, creates new applications for PMI assets, and improves SNC offerings with PMI technology.
Advanced Countermeasure Systems
March 1998: SNC aquired Advanced Countermeasure Systems (ACMS) located in Sacramento, California. ACMS specialized in high-end tactical ground based electronic warfare systems and non-tactical data collection/laser tag systems used in warfighter training and evaluation. The purchase of ACMS gave SNC access to these two new markets in defense electronics and provided ACMS with the clout of a larger company.
